- Someone pasted the following in the article. I think it belongs here first:--Wikister 18:44, 12 February 2007 (PST)
- Start by going to http://catalystresearch.biz/files/FRPT_Update_Report_02_12_07.pdf stop at page 2 and re-read the paragraph that begins with "This said, the Cheetah is just the next step—an evolutionary one at that. FRPT has prototyped a vehicle that is just a little too heavy, too tall, too expensive to be the perfect replacement for the Humvee. But guess what?! Those are design features that can be engineered out and were problems when they introduced the vehicle in its first iteration. They now have multiple, third prototype models, which are the best, blast-protected vehicle in the less-than-14 ton-class, that are being readied for Aberdeen testing late this month, or early March." You can believe me or not but the public is already writing their Congressmen demanding that their sons have these vehicles in IRAQ. I was a Tank Officer. Believe me when I say the Army will not be building a new tank for at least 5-10 years. Do your DD, check out the last date that a Tank was built in the USA. It'll shock you. Currently we are rebuilding our worn out tanks at the Anniston Army Depot: Two 10 hour shifts of workers. Most of our Army tanks are worn out from the desert sand, etc. The Cheetah has the blast resistance of a tank, but it is lighter and 1/5 th the cost. It can carry more soldiers (and more cargo) than a tank. Its better than the Armored Personnel Carrier (1960-1995); stronger than any up-armored Humvee and faster than any of them. Do you think we will stop modernizing our Army or Marines even if we pulled out of Iraq next month? Think again. We are still in A'Land and will be in hot spots in the future. Read the complete PDF and start your DD.
