The Company's products are designed to provide the information that enables physicians prescribe personalized treatments for patients by matching the underlying molecular and genetic features of an individual patient's disease to the drug expected to have maximal therapeutic benefit. The company also enables pharmaceutical companies to develop new therapeutics or drugs by providing enhanced patient selection and monitoring capabilities throughout the development process. Currently the company is focused on infectious diseases HIV / AIDS) and cancer segments.
Monogram's lead products, PhenoSense and GeneSeq provide a method for measuring the impact of genetic mutations on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) drug resistance. The Company utilizes its eTag technology, acquired through its merger with ACLARA Biosciences, Inc. (ACLARA) that was completed in December 2004. [1]

Infectious Diseases
Monogram's technologies work by identifying drug resistance in viruses that cause serious infectious diseases and can also identify a patient’s tikely drug response to certain drugs. Therefore doctors can predict in advance the likelihood a drug will be effective for the patient and optimize treatment options. Making treatments more effective, and could potentially save time and lower cost of treatment. Currently the company's marketed products in this segment is focused on HIV/AIDS, but Monogram is developing assays for other infectious diseases. [2]
Monogram's Trofile ™ Co-Receptor Tropism Assay has been used for patient selection in the phase III trials of the new class of drugs called CCR5 antagonists. The first of these, Maraviroc from Monogram's partner, Pfizer ( PFE), which has been recommended for accelerated approval by an FDA panel review on 24, 2007.[3] Monogram expects that the Trofile Assay may be used for patient selection after regulatory approval of maraviroc and other CCR5 antagonists that might enter the market later.
