Eni SpA, an integrated energy company, operates in the oil and gas, electricity generation, petrochemicals, oilfield services, and engineering industries. It engages in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, oil, and natural gas in Italy, North Africa, West Africa, the North Sea, Latin America, Kazakhstan, the United States, and Asia. As of December 31, 2006, the company had net proved reserves of approximately 6.44 barrels of oil equivalent of oil and gas. It also engages in the supply, transmission, and sale of natural gas. The company has 102 retail fuel stations located in Czechia, Slovakia, and Hungary. It distributes and sells natural gas primarily to residential and commercial customers. Eni owns electricity generation stations in Ferrera Erbognone, Ravenna, Livorno, Taranto, Mantova, Brindisi, and Ferrara industrial sites with installed capacity of approximately 4.5 gigawatts. In addition, the company engages in refining and selling petroleum products, as well as in the production and sale of petrochemical products comprising olefins, aromatics, intermediate products, styrene, and elastomers. Further, it provides construction, drilling, engineering, and project management services for oil and gas, and petrochemical industries. The company was founded in 1953 and is headquartered in Rome, Italy.
