Welcoming New Members
- The most important role of a Recent Changes Patroller is welcoming newcomers. Research suggests it is newcomers who write the majority of wiki content.
- Most new users will appreciate a friendly {{Welcome}} to make them aware of the ValueWiki community.
- Wiki can be intimidating. Many new users don't know about Neutral Point of View, or Citing Sources. Friendly suggestions and encouragement can go a long way towards creating productive new members of the community.

Reverting Vandalism
ValueWiki has a zero tolerance policy for vandalism. A single verifyable instance of vandalism is enough to get a user banned for infinity. It is usually clear to see if an edit is deliberately malicious or merely accidental. If there is room for doubt, adding a message to the user's talk page is appropriate.
- Revert vandalism as quickly as possible
- Double check the page history to make sure all vandalism is reverted
- Check the vandal's user contributions - you may uncover more malicious edits.
Administrators
Administrators are ValueWookies with the ability to block/unblock IP addresses and protect or delete pages.

Catching Spam
- The most common form of vandalism is link spam. Link spam is often carefully disguised and difficult to catch.
- Link spam is any link pasted with the intention of promoting a site irrelevant to an article's topic. ValueWiki welcomes bloggers and webmasters to post links to relevant websites on any appropriate ValueWiki page.
- It is usually clear to tell if a link is useful and relevant, or simply malicious spam. If there is room for doubt, post a link on Talk:Recent Changes Patrol to get other Patrollers input.
- Like regular vandalism, ValueWiki has a zero tolerance policy for link spam. Report these vandals to an Administrator immediately.
